Russell Brand on voting

It’s not that I’m not voting out of apathy, I’m not voting out of absolute indifference and weariness and exhaustion from the lies, treachery and deceit of the political class[...]
Russell Brand brings the message of revolution

I've never once voted in my life and if I should describe my reasoning for that in one sentence, this would pretty much be it. As Brand goes on to describe: if we'd all stop voting, we would stop validating the current political system that is clearly rigged against the people it's supposed to serve.

If you haven't seen the interview, it's definitely worth watching:

I find it funny to watch how Brands valid reasoning makes Paxman visibly uncomfortable and watching him desperately try to trivialise Brands message and failing miserably is a lesson in being prepared. Paxman wasn't clearly expecting this from Brand, being that he's "only an actor".

This wasn't the first time Brand brings the hammer for people who think he's just an stupid actor, and I'm seeing a pattern forming here. I like this Russell Brand more than the one I've seen in the movies.

Getting work done

It’s amazing how much you can get done in a day if you just sit and you do it.
BILL TREGLE’S DAD

Jack Paar on Life

Looking back, my life seems like one long obstacle race, with me as the chief obstacle.

Wil Wheaton on network neutrality and piracy

I frequently find myself in an unpopular position in the entertainment industry: I believe in network neutrality, I don’t believe that piracy is the end of the world as we know it (I particularly don’t believe that a download or file shared automatically equals a lost sale*) and I don’t believe in crippling the Internet to protect a business model that desperately needs to change.

Life is like IKEA furniture

Life is like IKEA furniture. Sometimes you have to take it apart so you can put it back together the right way.
— Chris Blake

I love this quote. And it's somewhat fitting as yesterday we spend seven hours building IKEA shelves in our walk-in closet.

Arthur Koestler on discoveries

The more original a discovery the more obvious it seems afterward.

Steve Jobs

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
