Congratulations you two

Matias & Saara

Matias and Saara just made official that they got engaged. Story goes that Matias already popped the question while we were in San Diego but they officially told everyone (read: posted it on Facebook) yesterday. Congratulations!

Love you guys.

5DmkII video test with Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM Lens

Testing video with my 50mm Sigma lens at 1.4f. Getting the focus spot on manually using the 5D’s screen is really hard.

Roadtrip USA, 2010

Last friday five of us – Anna, Saara, Matias, Janne and me – took a flight from Helsinki to New York. Our mission: drive across the great U.S. of A. The planned route would take us from New York to San Diego in eleven days. In San Diego we have a familiar rented house waiting for us in Cardiff-by-the-Sea.

The day we departed from Finland was the annual Midsummer fest but also Janne’s 30th birthday. The trip started with few drinks at the Helsinki airport for Janne’s honor. As we were flying against the time, we also managed to drink for his honor the same day in New York.

The girls have planned and taken care of all the running errands such as hotel bookings, car renting, where to go and million other details. Janne and Matias got the navigation and maps all covered. All in all we seems to be running like a well oiled machine.

I’ll try to keep this site posted with the latest info on our progress as much as our schedule and flailing internet connections on the way allow.

“Flash is a successful business for Adobe, and we can understand why they want to push it beyond PCs. But the mobile era is about low power devices, touch interfaces and open web standards – all areas where Flash falls short.”

Everyone, meet Fire

This little cutie is my 5 month old red merle Australian Shepherd puppy. He’s such a gentleman! Fire arrived today with me from Frankfurt where I went to visit his Mom and got to know him little better. We took an early flight back to Helsinki, spend the day getting acquainted with his new home and surroundings and of course, napping.

Right now I’m totally exhausted with everything, so, I’ll write more about him later. For now, please enjoy the slideshow.

Talma powder day

This winter has seen more snow than probably ten previous winters combined, and more just keeps coming. So last night we traveled to our local Talma Glacier, elevation 5500cm (2165 inches), to enjoy the powder from the last two-day snowstorm. I haven’t been on a snowboard for a really long time so, things were bit rusty, but all in all we had a blast!

Shot some video with Matias using our iPhones, sadly, after all the precious powder was gone. In the last clip, as the snow hit the phone, it just shut down and would not startup before spending half an hour in my pocket. And yeah, doing 5 runs without gloves in -6C weather – not smart.

Matias giving thumbs up for the weather.
